Our Accra City Tour begins at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, resting place of Ghana's founding father, before continuing to the iconic Black Star Square, where Ghana declared its independence in 1957. The W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre, where the great scholar chose to spend his final years in the land of his ancestors, offers one of the day's most profound moments. Day 4

Day 4 - Tuesday, 2/2/27, Free Day, Accra

A day with no itinerary at all. After the emotional and sensory richness of the days prior, travelers are given room to simply be — optional spa treatments, a beach visit, shopping, or nothing more than an unhurried afternoon by the pool. Add-on entertainment options are available; please inquire with host.

Day 5

Wednesday, 2/3/27, Makola Market & Culinary Experience, Accra

We gently move about our morning then the afternoon shifts into sensory overdrive at Makola Market, one of West Africa's great trading hubs — color, textiles, produce, and daily Ghanaian life in full motion. Following our traditional market experience, we dine. In Ghana, food is identity — the language through which generations have expressed love, belonging, and community. Today, travelers step into that language with their own hands, in a private, interactive cooking class led by a Ghanaian culinary expert who weaves cultural storytelling into every stir of the pot. A shared feast of the group's own creation follows — jollof, banku, kelewele, and more — in the spirit of the togetherness the day itself is built to teach.

Day 6

Day 6 – Thursday, 2/4/27, History of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Route, Central Region

This is the emotional heart of the journey. We will travel to the Central Region of Ghana, Assin Manso, one of the major slave markets during the infamous slave trade.  We will visit Ndonkor Nsuo (Enslaved African River). This river is where enslaved Africans were checked for fitness and bathed before being transported to Cape Coast or Elmina to be shipped to the Americas and Caribbean. Experiencing the Ancestral Slave River, allows travelers to stand where captured Africans took their last bath before the long walk to the coast — today a place of pilgrimage and reflection.

The Ancestral Bath at Assin Manso

At Assin Manso, we walk in the footsteps of our ancestors. We walk bare footed to the slave river, a place where our ancestors were brought for their last bath on African soil before being taken across the ocean. In a symbolic act of respect, we wash our feet and faces in the river to honor their memory, cleanse our spirits, and show our gratitude for their strength, resilience, and sacrifice.

The next stop will be Cape Coast Castle, which has also been designated as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Built by the British in 1665 at the peak of slavery, this castle played a  major role in holding enslaved Africans while they made their fateful waiting of slave ships to the New World. Here guests will find a local historical museum, which further explains the full history of the castle, the Fante people, and the Cape Coast itself. An emotional experience will be had as here we will also walk thru the Female and Male dungeons, in addition to the infamous “Door of No Return” — the threshold through which millions passed and never returned.

The Journey of Return is a sacred and deeply moving experience of remembrance, reflection, and reconnection at Cape Coast Castle. In honor of the ancestors who endured the horrors of the transatlantic slave trade, we gather to light candles, lay wreaths, and pay homage to those who came before us.

It is heavy. It is necessary. And for many diaspora travelers, it is the reason the entire journey exists.

Day 7

Day 7 – Friday, 2/5/27, Kakum & Naming Ceremony, Central Region

Kakum National Park & Canopy Walkway

Here in Kakum guests will get to experience the much talked about Canopy walk. One of the only three locations in Africa with a canopy walkway. Kakum tropical rainforest is 350 meters (1,150 FT) long, connecting through treetops. Inside the park, guests will also find and see many different species of animals.

Traditional Ghanaian Naming Ceremony

The day closes with one of the journey's most emotional moments: a Traditional Ghanaian Naming Ceremony, in which each traveler is formally given and welcomed into a name in the Akan tradition — followed by a certificate presentation marking the occasion.

Day 8

Day 8 – Saturday, 2/6/27,  Free Day & Return To Accra

You have the option to visit a local school to make time for genuine cultural exchange and community engagement that moves travelers from observers to participants. Other optional activities include visiting the Elmina Castle, relaxing at a beach resort, or exploring the city before the group returns to Accra for a Farewell Dinner and the journey's final days.
